Θέμα: Υπογραφή Μνημονίου Συνεργασίας μεταξύ των ΜΚΟ Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY και International Law Association Cypriot Branch

Yπεγράφη στις 29 Δεκεμβρίου 2016, Μνημόνιο Συνεργασίας μεταξύ των Μη Κυβερνητικών Οργανισμών Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY και International Law Association Cypriot Branch. Το Μνημόνιο υπέγραψαν εκ μέρους αυτών οι  Πρόεδροι εκάστου των Οργανισμών, κα. Ιωάννα Δημοσθένους και κα. Αλεξία Σολωμού αντίστοιχα.

Ο Σύνδεσμος Διεθνούς Δικαίου (International Law Association – ILA) ιδρύθηκε στις Βρυξέλλες το 1873, έχοντας ως στόχο «τη μελέτη, τη διευκρίνιση και την ανάπτυξη του διεθνούς δικαίου, δημοσίου και ιδιωτικού, και την πρόοδο στην κατανόηση και το σεβασμό του διεθνούς δικαίου». Σήμερα, ο ILA έχει ρόλο παρατηρητή, ως διεθνής μη-κυβερνητικός οργανισμός, σε αριθμό οργανισμών των Ηνωμένων Εθνών. Το Κυπριακό Σωματείο του ILA ιδρύθηκε την 14 Νοεμβρίου 2015, με απόφαση του Εκτελεστικού Συμβουλίου του ILAκαι τον Μάιο του 2016 αναγνωρίσθηκε ως σωματείο σύμφωνα με τους νόμους της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας.

Το Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY λειτουργεί από τον Οκτώβριο του 2014, και έγινε επίσημα ΜΚΟ τον  Απρίλιο του 2015. Δημιουργήθηκε από μια ομάδα Κύπριων νέων με ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον για τη Διπλωματία και τις Διεθνείς Σχέσεις με στόχο να παρακινήσει τους νέους της Κύπρου να γίνουν ενεργοί πολίτες, να ασχοληθούν με τα τεκταινόμενα, καθώς και να ακουστεί η φωνή των νέων της Κύπρου σε ζητήματα διπλωματίας, διεθνών σχέσεων και πολιτικής. Το Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY δίνει την ευκαιρία στα μέλη του να συμμετέχουν σε εκδηλώσεις, συνέδρια, συζητήσεις, επισκέψεις μελέτης, προσομοιώσεις διεθνών οργανισμών και αποστολές στο εξωτερικό, με ιδιαίτερη έμφαση στη διπλωματία, στις διεθνείς σχέσεις καθώς και στην προάσπιση των δικαιωμάτων των νέων.

Το Μνημόνιο Συνεργασίας  προνοεί τη συνεργασία των δύο Οργανισμών στους τομείς του Διεθνούς Δικαίου, της Διπλωματίας και των Διεθνών Σχέσεων την προώθηση του έργου εκάστου Οργανισμού και τη διερεύνηση της πιθανότητας συνδιοργάνωσης εκδήλωσης σχετικής με το κοινό έργο των δύο Οργανισμών. Το Μνημόνιο Συνεργασίας θα βρίσκεται σε ισχύ μέχρι την 31^η Μαΐου 2017, με πιθανότητα ανανέωσής του μετά τη σύμφωνη γνώμη και των δύο Οργανισμών.

Signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between the NGOs Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY and International Law Association Cypriot Branch

On December 29^th 2016, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Non-Governmental Organisations Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY and International Law Association Cypriot Branch. The MOU was signed by the Presidents of the Organisations, Ms. Ioanna Demosthenous and Ms. Alexia Solomou respectively.

The International Law Association (ILA) was founded in Brussels in 1873, having as objectives “the study, clarification and development of international law, both public and private, and the furtherance of international understanding and respect for international law”. Today, the ILA has consultative status, as an international non-governmental organisation, with a number of United Nations (UN) specialised agencies. ILA CY was established on 14 November 2015, following a decision of the Executive Council of the ILA and in May 2016, it was recognised as an Association under the laws of the Republic of Cyprus.

Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY operates since October 2014 and became a Non Governmental Organisation registered at the Republic of Cyprus in April 2015. The Organisation was established by a group of young Cypriots having a great interest in  diplomacy and international Relations. Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY aims to encourage young Cypriots to follow the fields of diplomacy, politics and  international relations; their voice and opinion to be heard in these fields; to become active citizens and to mind the public issues. Cyprus Youth DiplomaCY gives the opportunity to its members to participate in events, conferences, study visits, simulations of international organisations as well as promotes relevant work opportunitues, with special focus in the fields of diplomacy and international relation

The Memorandum of Understanding envisages the collaboration of the two Organisations in the fields of International Law, Diplomacy and International Relations; the promotion of the work of each organisation and examines as well the possibility of co-organizing an event related in the fields of their common work. The Memorandum of Understanding will be in force until the 31^st of May 2017, with the possibility of its renewal after a common agreement of both organisations.
